Default IPTV Freezing

I would like to bring this to the attention of folks living in Calgary, AB Canada, for the last four days Internet provider Shaw has introduced some bug that is causing all IPTV servers like NFPS, Voodoo and IPGUYS to constantly freeze both live channels and VOD. The competing Internet service in Calgary Telus works fine. We are hoping customers call Shaw and complain and treaten to move to Telus. And even suggest to post on social media until they fix the service.

Thanks all

P.S. Hope not out of line here
Thanks

I called Shaw and was on phone for a while. Im a business Customer writh their 150mbps and have been with them for over 15years. They have forwarded all the ports and said there is no throttling or blocking on my account. The rep was quite helpful and couldn't see why this is happening?

Can someone in Calgary with telus confirm IP tv express is working on mag254?

Before you call your cable company and call attention to yourself, tablewo, could you let us know where you heard or saw this information? [Yes perfectly fine to post it, and helpful to others].

My thought is a company can put up a firewall if they know the url, they could slow your speed like some phone companies do if they see you are using a lot of bandwidth.

However if you use Amazon, Hulu, Roku, Sling etc. you are using all that bandwidth also. Would like to find out a little more before calling an alarm.

Thank you for bringing it up as a subject tablewo.

I just talked to shaw and from what they are telling me they only throttle businesses which is included in their contract. As for a bug they say the only thing they block is child porn and that is from the police not them. as for streaming they are not allowed to block it.

Question Constant Freezing

Can Shaw explain why Telus has no freezing on any of these servers. These servers worked for more than 2 years now all of a sudden they start freezing. People who are phoning to complain, Shaw is telling them they need to upgrade to Shaw 150 and after they do, there IPTV still freezes. I have used their service for over 10 years, and believe me it's not great. I have Shaw 15 and 5 out 10 times when I run a speed test I am only getting 9.

I am hearing this from users in the west. So this is not just in Alberta

Hopefully there is a fix for this soon....

My cousin is a field technician at Shaw and just told me Shaw is actually doing something behind the scenes to stop all IPTV services.

The weird thing is Kodi is working on VOD and live streaming not issues.

I live in Calgary as well.

I can confirm tablewo is in fact correct.

Shaw Cable has indeed, rate limited all known IPTV services such as Voodoo, IPTV express, IP Guys etc. What they are doing is basically throttling any traffic sent to these destinations.

Calling in and talking to regular support will not do any good, as normally customer service reps are unaware of any of the behind the scenes networking/monitoring.

If you want an easy work around simply tunnel any of your IPTV traffic through a VPN provider.

I would also suggest contacting CRTC or any other organization you can, as currently there is no legislation allowing them to filter or rate limit any IP's.

I also reside in Calgary, and have tunneled all my traffic through a VPN successfully. All IPTV services are working using this method.

Best of luck folks
