Day's Excitement
US Marshals raided the CES booth of a Chinese electric skateboard company today on the grounds it was showing off a product patented by another company.

Smart Home:
Nearly every big-name technology brand, from Google to Samsung to LG, is in the process of trying to own the way we interact with our appliances and our appliances interact with each other. But the most important name in the smart home is the one you’re least likely to find plastered inside the cavernous halls of the Las Vegas Convention Center: Alexa. Note we predicted it at The Napster first.

Android IPTV Boxes:
A Number of Korean companies showing off new IPTV android boxes. When we where talking to a couple of companies, they where excited about some of our ideas on features and the direction to go. Spent dinner with one and then talks with the other company, so it looks like we will be at least be doing some consulting for them.

Default Final notes CES 2016

It was a quiet year for CES — the show wasn’t filled with any blockbuster product announcements, or marked by any explosive new trends. Technology has arrived at an awkward middle period: things like smartphones and tablets and laptops are mature, while new things like VR and self-driving cars are in their earliest stages.

TVs and Laptops have rolled out the new OLED, but it still does not hold a candle to the Plasma, not manufactured anymore.

Amazon Alexa was the star of the show, as predicted by The Napster months ago, and will be a leader in home automation. It continues to improve though the cloud and is doing, even since our review. It is open source so security companies are pairing with it allowing you to open your door, change the temperature in your home, and now play Jeopardy.

In conclusion, for a lot of things we are in a flat period of innovation and improvement. It will be interesting to see what happens in the next few years. Really looking forward to 2020. In the mean time there are some niche things that are fun.
